Logo Contest Update

June 5, 2014 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

logo contestWe would like to thank all of the students who entered our school logo contest. There were so many great ideas that we decided to combine some of them together to make two final logos. Students and staff will have the opportunity to vote on the two logos. The winner will become our new school logo! We have two artisits, Amanda S. and Macey P. who will combine part of their artwork together, along with a couple of different slogans from various other entries. We think the two final logos will be a great combination of many people’s ideas of using bees, hives and other details that represent our school. The two final copies should be ready for the final vote sometime this week.

Doors Locked During Class Time

May 13, 2014 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

intercomLast summer. front door intercom and video technology was installed at our school.  The technology was funded by the Ontario Government as part of a program called Safe Welcome. The intention is for all elementary schools in Ontario to have front entrance doors locked during the school day. Our doors will be locked during class time only. To access the building during this time, you will need to ring the buzzer located on the north wall by the front door. Staff in the office will be responsible for checking the monitor and buzzing visitors in. It’s one more way we can monitor who is visiting our school. It will help us ensure all visitors sign in at the office. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at the office.

DSC_0186The Art Club had the opportunity to Skype with famous production designer, Richard Berg, who happens to be the uncle of one of our students. Richard has created sets for television shows such as “Modern Family” and “CSI” as well as sets for music videos for Michael Jackson and Madonna. The students asked questions about his career and other possible careers related to the arts. It was an informative conversation. Thanks Richard!
